Comfort for Critters

~ Celebrating 10 Years & 50,000 Blankets ~

november 2017 ~ CRITTER NEWS!

October was another great month for CFC, meaning lots of homeless pets were reminded that they are NOT forgotten! We set a new record, delivering 1,215 blankets during the month!

Donating at least 1,000 blankets seems to be the monthly norm now. I remember when 1,000 blankets a YEAR was a lofty goal. Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters!

We also received some great press in October, as Voyage Chicago online magazine featured CFC in a really nice article. You can read all about us here, if you're not already familiar with our story and mission!

In a final bit of good news, I'm thrilled to announce that we've expanded into our second country! We are lucky to have a wonderful volunteer in Ontario, Anne S., who has been helping us for almost three years now. She has made over 400 gorgeous sewn-fleece blankets (you've probably seen her creations on CFC's Facebook page) and has spear-headed our efforts to find some great shelters in Ontario. We've now signed up the Orillia Animal Center and the Midland OSPCA, both in Ontario. Anne has already hand-delivered blankets to Orillia, to rave reviews by the shelter staff!

So as we continue to expand, and our blanket shipments grow every month, I'm reminded to be thankful each and every day for all the CFC helpers that truly make these achievements possible. I hope as you celebrate Thanksgiving this year, you are surrounded by all that you are thankful for too!

                                                                                                   Happy Thanksgiving,

Your Beautiful Creations!

A special thank you from ... the Animal Protective Association of Missouri

What CFC Volunteers Have to Say....

If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram you get to see some of the beautiful blankets other volunteers are doing, and hear comments from your fellow volunteers and supporters. I encourage everyone to tap into us on social media! If you haven't had the time, here's some thoughts from other CFC volunteers about why they do, what they do!

  • "I have been doing this for awhile, since I like knowing that an animal has something that they can call their own when they get a forever home." ~ Paula R. of Arcola, IL
  • "We love all pets and thought this was a way to help these poor animals. We hope that the blankets will bring some comfort for all these scared animals in shelters. At the SPCA shelter, the people were so happy that we brought this pack of blankets! I will do more in the fall!" ~ Nicole K. of Wynnewood, PA
  • "My rescue cat Koko passed away recently. She really loved her crocheted blanket, so I decided to start making and donating them for other pets in her memory. I think the blankets will help by giving them comfort while they're waiting to meet their forever family."  ~ Maddie B. of Seattle, WA
  • "I care deeply about the comfort of the poor babies sitting in shelters awaiting their forever homes. I think the blankets will keep them warm and dry and snugly! I wish more people were responsible pet owners and would get their pets spayed and neutered so we had less lost little souls in the shelters!" ~ Linda C. of Virginia Beach, VA

Our amazon & Etsy Blankets Make Great Gifts!

Here's an easy way to help us ship blankets and find a great gift for the animal-lover in your life.

Purchase one of our exclusive blankets (made by Linda, CFC's founder), sold on Amazon and Etsy, and the recipient will receive a beautiful blanket and learn that a big box of blankets is being shipped to an animal shelter because of the purchase! This card is included with their gift blanket:

A beautiful blanket PLUS sponsoring a shipment, equals a meaningful gift for any pet lover!

Cats & Dehydration – What you should know!

Water makes up 80% of your kitty’s body and when its volume gets out of balance it can severely affect their overall health. Since cats in the wild are carnivorous in nature, most of their water intake comes from the prey they eat. For this reason, they’ve developed a low thirst drive and can become dehydrated rather quickly.  It’s important for all cat-companions to know the signs, the causes, and most of all the solutions to dehydration in cats. Review CFC on Facebook!

Facebook is an awesome way for us to help spread the word on our mission to comfort all those pets we can't adopt. If you like what we're doing, please take a few minutes and leave us a "review" on Facebook.

Once you're on our FB page, just find the "Reviews" category. You should see a spot where you're asked, "Tell people what you think."

We are "liked" by over 2,300 people, but we could always use more fans (who couldn't?). Thank you!

Dogs & Chocolate - No amount is safe!

Americans consume 18% of the world’s chocolate, so most households will stock at least some of this sweet. Homes with dogs however, need to be extra careful about stocking up on this favorite treat! Experts agree that there’s no “safe” amount of chocolate for a dog to consume, though the consequences vary greatly depending on how much is ingested. (Read more)
